The last day on the work site was a blast. The team had a great time working with the overseers and the rest of the team alike. The team worked on a new home and put up a lot of the roofing today to prep for another team coming in tomorrow to finish the roofing. After a great days work the team visited the local dowtown and a park festival. We visited some great shops and heard lots of GREAT local music. Team Manatee even started a great flash mob right in middle of downtown and got some local friends to join in. GREAT DAY!
Team manatee finished up on the siding and the roofing of the 1st house today, along with a lot of interior frame work. The team worked really smoothly to put all of the finishing touches to the roof with the shingles, cap, and vent. The team is looking forward to another day of work tomorrow on another home. As a side note, Ryan made his infamous guacomole dip for the 2nd night in a row and the whole team engulfed it in under 10 minutes, easy.
Day two on the site was yet another action packed day. The team finished putting up the vinyl siding, did some interior work on the home, and began the process of applying the shingles on the roof. Lots of the team members were able to try new things and experience a lot of new things pertaining to construction work. Team manatee headed down to Englewood beach after work for a little fun in the sun. Everyone had a blast lounging, throwing the frisbee and learning a new game called spike ball. It is a awesome game that is similar to a four square and volleyball combo game. Guest appearances made by Marvin the Manatee.
Today was oh so enjoyable.
Team manatee hit the ground running at the first work site. And by running I of course mean us working on the siding we applied to the house, Vinyl style yall. And by “hit the ground” I mean drove to the work sight. Trust me, no grounds were hurt in the process of the day. Stay tuned for more whereabouts, but obviously minus the whereabouts and plus the going-ons, of the day. Stay classy Punta Gorda.
Group sat down after a great dinner of stuffed ravioli to play a game of telepictionary. Things got really interesting as the game progressed into more of a humorous arena. We had some very interesting interpretations of picture being drawn and things got out of control rather quickly. Think ASB Punta Gorda team has found a theme game for the week, keep you guys updated on the progression of the game and the rest of the week
The ASB team geared and ready for the long haul to Punta Gorda left from the Plains this morning at 6:30. We made the 10 hour drive in slightly under 8 1/2 hours and arrived at the habitat community volunteer center in charlotte county, FL ready for the exciting week ahead. The whole group has had a fun time hanging out getting to know each other playing some intense games of spoons. We are all looking forward to the week ahead and are all anxious to get out to the sites tomorrow and get started with our work!
